  • Pjanoo and F12 by Pryda available on Beatport today!

Finally. Been waiting for this one, but not that long…! Pryda  a.k.a Eric Prydz released his latest EP today on Beatport. Seems like Eric gets it. The faster you get the music to your fans the better. Copies will leak onto music blogs and Bittorrent, that is just the way of life these days and there is NOTHING you can do about it.

The best way to combat this is to release the music as fast as you can so the people that would prefer to buy and support your music get a chance too. Leaving these people hanging will just “force” them to get the mp3 some where else.

Thanks Eric for “getting it”. Just got my Pjanoo/F12 copy at Beatport!

  • New talent from Sweden: Aleks Patz & Alex Caytas

Just discovered a great track called Sources. This track was produced by two fairly new and upcoming guys from Sweden. I came across their track on Pete Tongs Fast Trax site (full download of this track available there) where they just won this weeks Bedroom Bedlam.

This track definitly has a Pryda sound to it. I feel that maybe it could use a more powerful breakdown, where the main sound gets completely faded out, and then slowly coming back strong with a heavy beat. But I’m digging it as is! I have a feeling it might get some play-time at WMC.

MySpace profiles: Aleks Patz, Alex Caytas

Looking forward to see what these guys come up with next.

  • Bangin mix by Miles Dyson!

I’ve been a fan of Miles Dyson for the last couple of months. I stumbled onto his music over at Beatport.com, and it has that driving beat mixed with dirty funky tunes that I’m such a sucker for.

We are of to WMC for the first time this year and Miles is definitely one of the DJ’s I’m looking forward to see live. He is spinning during WMC on Wednesday, March 26th at Buck 15 in SoBe. The event is for free so you might as well check it out. Miles just posted a link to one of his DJ Mixes for download on his MySpace Blog. I uploaded it here so you can listen to it right now:
    Miles DJ Mix

After hearing this mix I’m even a greater fan and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us in Miami. Bring it on!

  • Deadmau5 and James Zabiela!

Yeah that is how lucky we are here in Los Angeles. March 8th at the best club I have ever been to, Vanguard here in Hollywood, and for only $15 we get to see them both.

I’ve seen Deadmau5 two times already this year and he is not only a great producer, he is an awesome DJ as well. Not to familiar with the lingo here, but he was “free-styling” for at least 15 min on NYE and he threw down some crazy beats. I was also impressed that he had fun even though the sound system sucked and went out on him at least 3 times…

Missed out on James last time he was here, and I’m really looking forward to see him live.

Here’s a preview of a track by One Plus One (James Zabiela and Nic Fanciulli) remixed by Deadmau5 called No Pressure. Get it now at Beatport.com. I probably get 95% of my music at Beatport these days… got a checking account to prove it!

They seem like a great match as well. Deadmau5 gets very technical and does not let any track just spin… a lot of skillz there. Yes he does use a computer (mac)… but I think this is a subject that will die soon since more and more Dj’s move on. James seems very technical also as far as I have seen over on YouTube. Should make for a great night!

I’m also a huge fan of Trance, and when it comes to hard pounding beats no one beats PvD (Paul van Dyk). Looking forward to Feb 8th when he comes to Vanguard.

Why is Vanguard my favorite club? The sound-system Funktion One is probably one of the best in the world. The club is also geared towards this typ of music with a large dance floor and nice outside area for some fresh air. The number one reason I love this place though is because it seems like every DJ puts on their best show at Vanguard. I have seen the same DJ at another club and barely recognized him… and this have led to some major disappointments. (No names mentioned..

  • Little bit of, by Yellus from Sweden

Been reading the PHASE02 for a couple of weeks now, and been discovering some great new “bouncy” music. Yellus was just featured on their blog and he is producing some good stuff. Really good if you consider his age, 17 years old!

My fav track is Little bit of - Yellus .

He is, of course… on MySpace. Show him some love!

Make sure you checkout PHAS02 as well as they post some great music a couple of times a week.

  • The Hobbit is happening!

If you know me somewhat… well then you know that I’m a huge Tolkien fan. I don’t remember how many times I have read LoTR, but more then 10 times for sure…

The Hobbit never had the same appeal to me. I’ve read it a couple times, but the story is written in a much simpler language and does not go into the same depth as LoTR.

Based on news it seems there will be two films, and that the story will be extended and offer more depth. This is all good news to me! I’ve been on this list, “Let The Hobbit Happen” since day one. The Hobbit, with a great script, would make for a great set of movies!

I still remember when I first heard that they were going to finally make a film of LoTR’s. I believe it was some time in 1995. Being a huge LoTR fan this was BIG news! I’m pretty sure that LoTR was the most anticipated book(s) to ever make it to the big screen.

Back in those days the internet was pretty lame… not much content compared to these days. There were no blogs, not that I’d heard of at that time, although I think some people claim that they were blogging back then. Yahoo was THE search engine, and pretty much else. In 1999 TheOneRing.net launched with LoTR related news, and I visited it at least twice per day. This was way before RSS and you actually had to make an effort to get your news.

When the filming of LoTR started I had every intention to go to New Zealand and participate in one way or another. College and money came in the way, and I have regretted not making it happen ever since. This time around I will make sure that l definitely make it to New Zealand during the filming of The Hobbit!

This is some exciting stuff, and I’m looking forward to follow this everyday again over at ToRN! This time around I will do it via RSS though.

  • Cloud Nine

The new Coud Nine Express at Mammoth Mountain

I love Mammoth Mountain. For the last 7 years I’ve been hitting the slopes at this mountain, and in my opinion it is the best mountain in California. There is nothing not to love about this place and now they made it even better:

“Cloud Nine Express, Mammoth’s newest lift, is now open to skiers and snowboarders.
    - MammothMountain.com

The old Chair 9 lift was a relic, and the line to get on it very slow on a powder day. The new 6-pack chair lift should make this a memory of the past.

On thing to consider though… and I know fellow powder dogs will as well… is that the good stuff will get tracked up fast so you better get your ass up early if you wanna hit the powder of the east side this winter!

  • Teaser - Great new track by Cirez D (a.k.a Pryda, a.k.a Eric Prydz)

Eric Prydz just released a new track under one of his other alias, Cirez D. Most of the stuff I have heard from him under this alias goes under the Tech House genre.

This track has a great driving beat to it. Makes you wanna keep moving… I also like the main sound in the background that makes a great compliment to the beat. There is a lot going on in this track and each time I listen I feel like I discover some new things. I might have to add to this post later…

Deadmau5 and Oliver Huntemann have both remixed this track already. Deadmau5 2nd remix is my favorite. He adds some deeper bass and takes the one distinct sound in the beginning of the original track and makes it a main sound throughout his remix.

Head over to beatport.com and check it out.
